Well, in case you haven’t guessed yet, I’m Stephanie Fizer artist and illustrator, sole creative genius of The Quirky and Cute Art of Stephanie Fizer. Here a few random bits about me:
-
I love making lists and reading lists, which is actually why I’m currently writing this list. I use lists to keep myself super-organized; they are quick and easy to glance over :)
-
I drag around a lovely little journal that someone gave me as a gift and I constantly write down new ideas for work and projects. It’s so stuffed full of ideas that I would never have to time to finish them all, but I love to browse through it whenever I’m looking for inspiration.
-
I’m a vegetarian and have been since I was 8 years old. Partially this is because I’ve never agreed with harming animals, but mostly it’s because the texture of meat and dairy products just disgusts me. I’m just weird like that :)
-
I love striped stockings.
-
Heck, I just love stripes or any patterns for that matters. I’m also particularly partial to paisley.
-
I could pour over vintage children’s illustrations for days at a time and I sometimes do. They are a particularly strong source of inspiration to me right now.
-
Pickles are one of my top three favorite foods of all time. The other two are lima beans and tomatoes right now.
-
I live in a beautiful apartment in West Virginia with my wonderful boyfriend and two very curious cats who like to poke their little heads in my water cups while I’m painting :)
-
I’ve always been addicted to nature, in the summer months I would sit outside every second of every day if I could :) I love flowers and trees and cute little animals, which you’ll see reflected in my work.
-
The Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie of all time.
-
I also love music of all kinds although I go through various stages in my listening. My iPod is filled with everything from the Beatles to Lamb of God and from Tori Amos to A Tribe Called Quest. I love my music and I listen to it constantly and am always searching for new bands to explore.
-
I’m completely self-taught at my art. It took lots of reading, discovering and trial and error to find myself as an artist and really become comfortable with it. I’m always changing and looking for new ways to improve myself and my work.
-
In a past life, I was a ballet dancer; you will also see this reflected in my work

Dear Stephanie,
Thank you for the tips you are putting up on your blog. I am an artist when I have the time and it is really nice to see someone trying to help others that just don’t know where to begin. Your work is adorable. I wish you much success.
